The Normandy landings were the operations on Tuesday, June 6, 1944 of the Allied forces invasion of France in Operation Overlord during World War II. Referred to as D-day, it was the largest seaborne invasion in history. The operation began as the liberation of German-occupied France, and later Europe from Nazi control, and laid the foundations of the Allied victory on the Western Front. German casualties in D-Day have been estimated at 4,000 to 9,000 men. Allied casualties were at least 10.000, with 4,414 confirmed dead. it was day that was one biggest moments in history.

Franklin D. Roosevelt’s D-Day Prayer  was to ask Americans pray for our solders. the day was historic turning point in our history.

we are up here as all we can see is a few ships shooting like mad. they had air-man not able see the biggest landing of all time. the beaches below countless men would die.  Soldiers, Sailors and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force! You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hopes and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.
Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is well trained, well equipped and battle hardened. He will fight savagely. But this is the year 1944 ! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground.
Our Home Fronts have given us an superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world marching together to Victory!
I have full confidence in your devotion to duty and skill in battle.
We will accept nothing less than full Victory!

This year marks 75 years since the invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, more commonly known as D-day. On June 6, 1944, in one of the most well-remembered moments of World War II, American, British, and Canadian forces stormed the 50-mile stretch of beach.

Despite their losses, the Allied forces were able to establish a foothold on the beaches that they would continue to consolidate with more fighting. The battle of Carentan, for example, resulted in the Allies securing the city on June 14 and allowed Omaha and Utah beaches to link together. Operation Overlord came to its conclusion at the end of August. Paris was liberated on August 25, and the German forces retreated across the Seine five days later as we went into paris with cheers. we should thank all those brave men that served us.  Its simply one of biggest moments in history. 75 years ago d-day had the eyes of world upon the allied powers to free the world form the axis. thanks to all men that served us
