E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial review

When I first saw ET as a boy i was very young as i recall being very much in love with this tale about this alien trying find his way back home. E.T. is one of my all time favorite movies as it really had a very strong impact upon me as a child as I really loved the sense of wonder the movie shows us about ET as he sees world with wonder and charm of a child.

This is Spielberg at his best as its wonderful score by John William to its very elements about family and friendship and loyalty and its most of all about love. Steven Spielberg pulls off some legendary shots and the acting from the children is excellent as it makes the movie click with us so much as Henry Thomas as Elliot is wonderful as give us one amazing performance as an actor.  Drew Barrymore is so cute throughout the whole film and she captures the audience every time she appears on screen as also gives us a very amazing performance too.

The relationship between E.T. and Elliot can be marked as one of the greatest friendships in Hollywood history as they are friends yet the boy really does suffer due to this friendship which can hurt your heart at times. I truly adore the elements about the idea he truly is alien to our world discovering it with such glee that makes the magic of the moments he finds out things in the movie even more magical. Its one of those very good classics with a heartfelt portrait of childhood exploring the friendship between Elliot that is what makes the movie truly magical.

ET truly is a wonderful classic you should see today as you will adore this classic gem with its wonderful acting to direction to its wonderful score all make it one of the best classics all time ever made for the screen.. This is one of the best Steven Spielberg films ever made simply that you should see today.

baby driver:classic connections

How The Umbrellas of Cherbourg connects to baby driver?the musical beats(beat one)

The Umbrellas of Cherbourg is truly a musical in every sense of the word as every frame of the movie is a musical as every line of dialogue is sung as that seems very novel its a very stylish movie invention for its time as filmed in lovely color of the 1950’s and 1960’s. The actors are not singers as they do seem more real and grounded as There is none of the showboating of the big Hollywood musicals of the era as they speak it like you would every day each lyric of the movie. The Umbrellas of Cherbourg is fully of beautiful melodies and musical lines but there is no delineation between separate songs. Instead it is one continuous musical experience as Demy and composer Michel LeGrand sat at a piano writing the screenplay out page by page as each line has written notes added to the line. In an interview, LeGrand admitted to struggling through the process as a key a bit of inspiration when they translated the natural timbre of the spoken line for a scene, keeping the same rhythmic melody. It’s a classic tale about young love, loss, and the path that life leads you down which can take you off that love. It’s a classic tale as old as time itself. You loved baby driver you will adore this movie so much.

This is a vividly emotional heist thriller that the betrayals of the heart rarely feel this raw and real as its scarring and the sexual tension is off the charts. We sympathize with Burt Lancaster falling hard for Yvonne DeCarlo as we can get why he loves her so much and unable move on without her as she is a conflicted femme fatale. Noir is at its best when making it painfully clear that there is no future for the doomed couples in these films as this classic shows us the best of noir you will enjoy it anytime even if you loved baby driver.

How does How to Steal a Million connect to baby driver?well its a romantic heist comedy(Beat Five)

How does Le Samourai (1967) connect to baby driver? It’s a classic Mystery/Crime film. (Beat Ten)

Jean-Pierre Melville’s Le Samourai is the cinematic embodiment of cool. This film is unlike any Hollywood action treatment of a hitman in that it every single movement is treated like a precious gemstone. Alain Delon plays a double crossed assassin who stays one step ahead of the law in what becomes a very smart cat and mouse plot. Melville’s exact direction is a joy to behold, never wasting a line of dialogue nor a single frame. This is film-making at its leanest, trimming off any hint of excess with such fine acting makes this a gem you will simply adore if you love baby driver.

Rififi is a terrific heist movie, and one from which subsequent heist films have drawn ever since its debut upon the screen. The  famous 20-minute silent jewel heist sequence of this flim is simply marvelous to watch unfold on the screen. If you are serious about heist films or film noir this is an absolute must see as its truly a marvelous flim by Jules Dassin that you will love so much if you love baby driver.

Baby driver review(Beat fourteen:last note as  would be the ending of story)

Baby Driver is the best mix-tape ever assembled for a movie. It’s simply a marvelous movie that simply is one of best movies of the year. Edgar Wright would have never fit the 70s new wave: he belongs at Warner’s in the 30s. Baby Driver colors inside the lines. Baby driver is a stark contrast to many movies now from other recent Hollywood films praised being different enough. He wants the image on screen to matter more than the cultural conversation that occurs afterwards.

The film stars Ansel Elgort as the titular character whom truly shines in this marvelous role that shines with very emotion driven acting as he barely speaks as he feels like buster kreaton in a modern sense but so good here. Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx, Kevin Spacey, and Eiza González did their parts well and portrayed convincing mentally unstable killers that have such wonderful wit to them all as the actors played well off of each other, especially in scenes involving comedy where they nailed the punch-lines each time.

Many of the heist films of recent years have been rather disappointing when it comes to both story and technical achievement this movie is simply marvelous as it comes. The casting in Baby Driver was absolutely divine.

I cannot think of one character or actor who was misplaced or a weak link within the film as they give such wonderful performances. Writer-Director Edgar Wright delivers the sharpest dialogue and story of his illustrious career as he simply brings home his best film ever here which is a tall order coming from this amazing talented director crafting out such amazing and clever heist scenes with wonderful acting and a wonderful screenplay with wonderful direction and acting makes this movie a must see for anyone that loves classic movies.

Time bandits

Time bandits

So today I review Time Bandits which stands as one of my favorite movies all time.  Terry Gilliam is one of the more innovative, creative, and fantastical directors as his films easily bear his stamp of absurdist humour, witty dialogue, sheer fantasy, dream-like sequences, and always a generous dose of black comedy. Time Bandits is certainly no exception but to me i seen this movie many times out of all of terry’s flims i love it the most as this movie is so fun to watch.

Young history buff Kevin (Craig Warnock) can scarcely believe it when six dwarfs emerge from his closet one night. Former employees of the Supreme Being (Ralph Richardson), they’ve purloined a map charting all of the holes in the fabric of time and are using it to steal treasures from different historical eras. Taking Kevin with them, they variously drop in on Napoleon (Ian Holm), Robin Hood (John Cleese) and King Agamemnon (Sean Connery) before the Supreme Being catches up with them.(plot off goggle)

In the world of sci-fi comedy this movie remains timeless.  Terry Gilliam’s Time Bandits is that rare thing a kids movie that is truly one of the most imaginative children’s movies. Time bandits is a fairy-tale that is truly one fun fairy tale classic. , Kevin as played by Craig Warnock truly shines in the role as he is the moral center of the flim.  The whole cast are great.  Warner and David Rappaport playing head bandit Randall are especially good, and there are a handful of fun cameos including Sean Connery, Shelly Duvall, and Gilliam’s old pal John Cleese playing a hilarious Robin Hood. It’s not a new notion, but the love with which Gilliam depicts the past and the imagination beautifully highlights the relative mundanity of the kind of inventions that often seem like lifesavers. In fact, much of the film skates by on the pure love of making it, giving perfect expression to Truffaut’s notion that a film should express either the joy of film-making or the agony of it.

Gilliam has had his share of agony, but when he’s got joy in his heart, he’s unstoppable.  Time Bandits, illustrating the imaginings of children, represents the first film in what has become known as Gilliam’s “Dreams Trilogy.” Brazil, the middle chapter, depicts the dreams of a middle-aged individual. And The Adventures of Baron Munchausen does something similar for an old man as each flim is part of this dream series as i do think out of three i adore time bandits the most as its truly a time traveling comedy classic that remains timeless.

Time Bandits is a film about a child’s imagination being set free. The script (written by Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin) features plenty of Python-esque humor, and director Gilliam brings his usual visual flair and surrealism. For the most part, this is a very funny and charming fantasy adventure suitable for the whole family but also highly recommended for fans of Python and/or Gilliam. Its truly one classic gem that remains timeless.

One of the best elements of this film is its wonderful screenplay that captured many great elements of a fantasy classic book to the screen. It has some of the best songs ever that came to the screen even rivaling Disney movies. I would say many songs can lift up your spirit as many of the songs really stand out.

Its acting and dialogue contains some of the most interesting little tidbits in the entire movie. Gene Wilder truly nails home one of the finest roles he ever played on the screen as its a whimsical performance with such infectious joy as its one fine acting performance. Blazing Saddles quick review

Blazing Saddles is one of the funniest movies to ever come to the screen as its among of Mel brooks finest comedies ever to the screen. Its movie that deconstructs the traditional western by pointing out its racism. It also has such over the top characters that really are some of the funniest ever put on the screen. It’s a funny spoof comedy of westerns that stands as one of the finest of its type as it’s a Mel brooks classic.

Mel Brooks broke new ground with this spoof of westerns that really was something boldly daring for its time. Blazing saddles really courted a film courted controversy like no other major-release film of its time along with it breaking ground for the comedy spoofs to come. Cleavon Little playing the role of Sheriff of Rock Ridge really did bring us such charm to that role as its truly such a good performance of an actor.

Gene Wilder is brilliant as the “Deputy Spade as he brings such a great charm to the role as he truly makes it his own and its truly a fine performance. The acting of everyone else is top notch too. The dark humor in this movie is very smartly crafted and acted out by the cast which give it such wit and charm yet it’s so funny as it leaves no one beyond by its humor. Young Frankenstein quick review

Mel Brooks’ tribute to the Frankenstein movies of universal’s golden age of horror is such a joy as its truly such a funny comedy classic that stands among the best of comedy.

Gene Wilder truly shines as Dr. Frankenstein as its one of his funniest roles he ever did on the screen as he truly hams it up and makes the character a parody of the mad doctor in a nutshell as its truly so funny to watch him do it with such wit and charm. It’s such a joy to watch him in this wonderful performance. Peter Boyle really is amazing as The monster as he truly makes it this monster such a joy to watch on screen as it’s such a wonderful performance. Marty Feldman truly is such a comic joy to watch on screen as its one of those oddball character actors that nails home such a fun role on the screen as he gives such a great performance on screen. Madeline Kahn truly nails home such a fine performance in her role as Elizabeth. Its acting is truly top notch by everyone in the cast as they give such fine performances.

The cast is beyond superb. e late, wonderful British comedian Marty Feldman (Igor), who turned his congenital wandering eyes into comedic foils, never misses a beat as second banana to Gene Wilder, who plays the distraught Dr. Frankenstein to the hilt and beyond. the marvelous Madeline Kahn, who gave a bravura performance as the doctor’s fiancée. The late comedienne’s burst into operatic ecstasy during her rape by the monster is simply inspired as its one of the most inspired moments of the movie it’s a shame we lost her so soon. This movie stands among the classics as its one of the finest comedy classics ever to the screen.

Silver Streak quick review

The first film to team legendary funny men Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor, Silver Streak is a respectful Hitchcock homage to Hitchcock classics with such humor and wit to match to those movies.

Gene Wilder plays a normal man of sorts as a book publisher as it’s a nod to the normal man of Hitchcock movies whom is wrongfully accused of a crime he didn’t commit sounds like a Hitchcock movie you know? Well it is a comedy spoof of north By Northwest. He plays this role so wonderfully skilled as it would even make the master of movies pride as he nails home such humor and charm as this is one of his finest performances. Richard Pryor’s casting was a mark of steer inspiration as this gave birth to one of the greatest comic duos on the screen. Richard Pryor really plays such a wonderful Character in Glover a very good and wonderful performance. It is known that both gene and Richard didn’t really click off screen as much as they were not the best of friends but on screen the duo is one of the finest of comedy ever as they both give us such wonderful performances together on screen. Jill Clayburgh also plays a fine role. Its good acting that makes this comedy classic really last for ages as its the wit of all the cast as they play off the types of a Hitchcock movie. Silver Streak is truly a fine classic comedy.

A Gene Wilder-Richard Pryor comedy classic as combining these two legends of comedy really works as they truly are so funny on screen together. Stir Crazy” once again brings together the comedic talents of Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor as they play  Skip and Harry two slackers as both of them give us such comic gold to their roles. Its them leading the show as this is a duo comedy at its finest. It’s a funny classic that is a joy to watch just not so much of a masterpiece as silver streak.

Gene wilder’s gene_wilder_split_featuredGene wilder passing away  two days ago hit me hard as i truly loved him in so many movies even his lesser movies such as stir crazy and see no evil which is fun movies yet not his best of his roles and range as an actor. It’s truly a sad day to lose such a legend. He truly was one of a kind. I always found his movies to make me laugh and smile as he always brought you joy then pure magic. What made him magical was he way of bringing such wonderful characters to the screen. He was a kind and gentle soul that really wanted to make the world laugh and smile as he truly was one of the greatest comedy legends all time. Splash Review

Splash is a romantic comedy that really is one of the classics of the 1980’s. I adore Splash! It is a beautiful, charming and sweet romantic comedy that has quickly become a favorite of mine ever since seeing it as a boy in the 1980’s it’s just that charming and good to watch anytime.

Tom Hanks is perfectly cast as Allan Bauer who is a a successful businessman who falls in love with a beautiful mermaid named Maddison as he plays the role to such a great level of charm as he is just very charming in the role. Daryl Hannah look gorgeous here as she is he is a generally ignored actress, and she was positively charming in the role as she gives her best role on the screen. Eugene Levy plays a sort of bad guy, and he is funny as well as detestable in the role but gives such a great role to it. John Candy is hilarious as Allan’s brother who gives out one fine role for him.. Every single person did a superb job in their respective roles.

Out of all the romantic comedies I have seen, this has to be the most charming and possibly irresistible with such a remarkable level of great acting by everyone and it’s great lovely cinematography and stunning underwater sequences. the movie itself is an enthralling fairytale come to life as it’s truly a classic for the ages.

Rewind to the 80’s

Rewind to the 80’s

I was born in 1985. I am an 80’s child forever.  It also is one of my treasured decades for my personal level of charm. It really is close to my heart because i was born and grew up in that decade. I am very an 80’s child at heart and soul. It was decade where many told you we were back in the clean cut days but in truth it was very much a new wave of rebellion as we were the new face of a changed era that had the system changed and reinvented. We were the kids that loved to rock out in blue jeans. The 80’s really does in a way feel like we’re the rebels without a cause that had to change the system totally dude as we felt it was messed up after all those wicked wars. I can say i fondly recall that decade having grown up in and its magical charm of the movies and tv. So remind back to the 80’s as I recall the biggest things were what we loved dude. I was watching cartoons on saturday morning then i would watch mtv and jam out to new beats by many artists then some lovely tv shows and movies came on the tube. The idea of pop was born in the 1980’s in nutshell as what’s hot and cool was in trend often then as i start my sit down talk ill talk 80’s memories . lets go back to the future

I recall frist hearing like a virgin at a very young age as i was rocking out. It got many so angry. She famously came out dressed in white and it really upset the status man. Really this music was very wonderful beat and one of the things that sticks with you about the 80’s. It was a rebellion againist what felt right by doing what could express. It’s one of those great charming song. That you never forget.

as an 80’s child i recall fondly many great saturday morning cartoons. I really recall watching the great Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears as it was one of my favorite cartoons as a boy. I recall the magic and charm of this wonderful tv show.

Chip n’ Dale Rescue Rangers was a short lived cartoon series but a show i fondly recall watching as a boy. I was really in love with this crime solving duo. It reminds you of those old good gun detectives from the classics. The show was a very fun show to watch.

Amazing stories had many great tales that really represented the best of the 80’s in tv as far talent and fun and great tv serials go.It is a show i fondly recall watching often as a child very much loving its tales.

I always recall the amazing mirror mirror which is one of the finest tv stories all time.

I imagine Martin Scorsese had a lot of fun, in a very brief way, directing this short film in the guise of a little short for the TV series Amazing Stories in the 80s. Probably due mostly to his friendship with Steven Spielberg, Scorsese took up this job while in the midst of directing The Color of Money. Knowing that while watching Mirror, Mirror. It was very much a tale that felt very much in tone with his works as he has this guy is a mean horror writer.twisted paranoia and all as a big goof on horror movies as it is a nod in way to them. Sam Watterson takes on the role to great effect as he brings to life the magical caracter to life. It is wonderful trip down the rabbit hole each time you see it.

Another fond musical memory of mine is listening to nothing gonna stop us by starship it was done for the movie  Mannequin as one of those great rock songs of all time. Its beat and charm never ages on me as i recall fondly jamming out many days to it as a boy.

Cyndi Lauper represents the music of the 1980’s to a tee. She really had such a beat and charm to her music. she bop i can recall highly as such a rocking out beat as boy dancing many hours away to it and her other songs. The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough really represents one of my favorite movies also the song is fun to listen to often. Girls Just Want To Have Fun is the beat of the 1980’s really a song that you just wanna dance out to all time. I can say her songs are very much a reminder of those simple times as a boy and how magical it felt to be an 80’s child.

“Beat It really is one of those great songs by michael jackson that i feel i really love to hear often and repeat it. Michael jackson’s great songs of this decade would often play on mtv or another channel and i would just dance to the beat of those songs. All his songs have a magic and charm that really does remind you why you loved music.

Mtv is a big part of my childhood as much as ever. I can recall many times flipping on this channel to see a new music video and rocking out to the beat of the music. In 1980’s mtv was so cool as we had so many wonderful artists that came on it and gave us some amazing beats to listen to. It is musical heaven for an 80’s child for the mtv of the 80’s.

It is time i talk about those 80’s movies now those movies that are just part of my childhood and some of the best it had to offer. The 80’s had such amazing levels of movies that i can say are some of the all time classics in my eyes forever.

Before ariel became a part of our world we had splash that movie was very much a part of my childhood as much i recall watching it often. I loved it to death. Daryl Hannah really was one hot mermaid i recall really being smitten with her as a boy.Great acting from Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah and a storyline that can be taken funny as well as seriously. Out of all the romantic comedies I have seen, this has to be the most charming and possibly irresistible all time as such a wonderful comic gem.

Clash of the Titans has been a favorite of mine since i was a kid.  I recall often watching and rewatching this 80’s gem. I was very into Greek mythology as a boy. I fondly recall the magic of watching this movie. It introduced me to Ray Harryhausen as he truly had such magical movies i watched after this movie to learn more about him. It captures the feeling of ancient greece. This movie is a charming adventure movie that you will love to watch anytime.

The dark crystal is a wholly orginal fantasy . It takes place in a fantasy world, created by the talented duo, Frank Oz and Jim Henson.Jim Henson and crew spent much too much time creating this movie, and the depth of their effort shows as this movie is a fantasy movie that really takes you into the magical fantasy world. It is an amazing fantasy trip down memory lane for me as i just recall watching it as boy and loving it too death.  A magical fantasy gem for the ages.

Films like Sixteen Candles personify what the eighties was all about. And if you were a child of the 80s, you will probably identify with this film a lot more than the now younger generation. It really was what it felt like in the 1980’s in nutshell. I can say Molly Ringwald is so rememberable here. It is very simple story with that 80’s charm and heart. Sixteen Candles is one of the best films John Hughes gave us in the 1980s. The young cast full of so many extraordinary talents gives us one memorable scene after another as it has such a wonderful cast of talents all giving their best. It truly is one of those wonderful movies of the 1980’s.

Big is this charming, sweet, hilarious gem of a film works because Tom Hanks makes you believe he actually is a small boy in the body of an adult. It really can make you feel that magical touch of childhood as you are a child again like tom hanks as you want to that adult with a child’s charm and soul. It is tom hanks at his finest. I can say this is truly an 80’s gem for the ages.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is the second of the Indy films from director Steven Spielberg, though chronologically it is actually the first. The film itself is a non-stop action, adventure ride. Harrison Ford Indiana Jone is once again AMAZING as the dashing professor/archaeologist thrill seeker. Short Round is a loveable character who adds a humorous touch, and reveals the more compassionate side of Indy’s character.  It has amazing acting by everyone as this charming movie is an action adventure that you will love to watch anytime.

The breakfast club is one of the best of the 1980’s.  The fact is, every teen character in this movie can be related to someone we knew in high-school. As a child of the 80’s, I can honestly say that this is a representative cross-section of every high school in North America. The geek, the jock, the outcast, the rich pretty-girl snob, and the future criminal. They all exist, to some degree or another, in the classrooms of every high school on the continent. An American Werewolf In London is a remake of a classic movie that really represents the best of horror.  The cast is perfect as ever. Director John Landis’ “pet project”–he had to sit on the script for 10 years before he had enough clout from other films for this one to be greenlighted–is an excellent, seamless melding of comedy and horror, with a surprising amount of brutality and one of the most wonderfully dark, abrupt conclusions ever made. It truly is a horror classic that stands as one of the best all time.

Anyone who grew up in the 80’s will list the Goonies as one of their favourite films, or at least look back at it with a misty eye as this movie is a great fond memory for me.  The Goonies a brilliantly written, directed, and acted movie, but it was also so much FUN! The adventures of these kids through the underground world, while being chased by the despicable villains known as the Fratellis, are fascinating to watch. The Goonies is a great cinematic experience. It has everything that anyone who was ever a kid could ever want. Even the elaborate sets are very convincing. The sense of adventure and hope that are presented in The Goonies is uplifting and inspiring. The lovable characters are perfectly developed and endlessly entertaining. Many of them, particularly Sean Astin and Corey Feldman, delivered the best performances of their future careers right here in this early adventure film. This movie can be enjoyed by virtually anyone, which is one of its best values. It is truly timeless, and it should not be missed to watch anytime.

In Wes Craven’s classic slasher film, several Midwestern teenagers fall prey to Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), a disfigured midnight mangler who preys on the teenagers in their dreams which, in turn, kills them in reality. After investigating the phenomenon, Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) begins to suspect that a dark secret kept by her and her friends’ parents may be the key to unraveling the mystery, but can Nancy and her boyfriend Glen (Johnny Depp) solve the puzzle before it’s too late?

I first saw this movie as a boy, it freaked me the hell out i would have such wild nightmares even waking up thinking he was outside coming after me. It’s one of the best casted horror movies all time in my eyes. The cast is one of the most amazing casts of any horror movie as its cast all are stand out actors in their own right. Wes craven came up with idea based on new articles of people dying in their sleep so came up idea what if a monster was killing them. Its an idea that created one of the greatest horror monsters all time as Freddy Krueger stands out as something unique in horror monsters as he is a witty as they come which makes him seem like a character based on the wit and charm. He is a charming monster with such wit and dark humor.

Robert Englund has to be one of the greatest character actors all time in my eyes. He crafted out a character that feels timeless as he gives it such wit and charm that you think this monster is cool as hell yet he will scare you shitless another moment, its a landmark work of an actor that really stands out as one great actor in his own right. He is just as much a craftsman as wes was to his work. It’s the magic of what Robert did to the role that makes the movie click so much as without him it would be just another b-horror movie with a monster that is very unique. It’s also that we have the amazing Heather Langenkamp giving us one of her finest performances all time on the screen as she crafted out the role of nancy to such great effect. Its Johnny Deep’s first role as he stands out so greatly as he brings us such to like this boy that would be a b-movie trope character if played by any other actor. Its great acting for a first time as he showed us this guy will be something special on his own. its not his best role but his start and a great one at that for an actor. The supporting cast is just as amazing as many great legends grace it as its one of the greatest casts any horror movie. I think it’s acting is what makes it really keep really clicking to this date.

The movie is a great inventive movie with such great special effects that stand out among the halls of horror as it’s somewhat above many of the others of the genre as its acting is so great that it blows you away. The direction of Wes craven is amazing as he crafts out a masterpiece of the genre that even can stand out as one of the greatest movies all time too as it’s that good. Its direction-acting and everything else make this movie a masterpiece worth watching again and again.
